Coats and Toys for Kids Day: Spreading Warmth to Youth in Care
Coats and Toys for Kids Day, held on December 3, is a beautiful reminder that every child deserves warmth, comfort, and joy—especially youth in care who are navigating major transitions and uncertain seasons in their lives. Something as simple as a new coat or a toy may seem small, but for many of our young people, these items represent safety, confidence, and the reassurance that they are deeply valued and not forgotten.
At A Second Chance, Inc., supporting families, especially kinship families, is at the heart of our mission. We understand that when caregivers step up to take in the children they love, they need practical resources to help make that transition as smooth as possible. That’s why we are proud to offer our Kinship Closet, a year-round resource filled with winter gear, toys, clothing, hygiene items, school supplies, and other essential items. During the colder months, this closet becomes even more vital, helping caregivers ensure that children can stay warm, feel secure, and experience moments of joy during the holiday season.
With the help of our dedicated community partners, generous donors, and compassionate staff, youth in care can step into winter prepared—not just physically, but emotionally. Every coat given, every toy shared, and every moment of kindness becomes a reminder that these children are surrounded by a community that believes in them and wants to see them thrive.
At ASCI, we don’t just meet needs—we help build stability, dignity, and connection. And on days like Coats and Toys for Kids Day, we are reminded of the power of collective care and the difference it makes in the lives of the families and children we serve.
