Dr. Shielah DeBlanc is a dedicated clinician, leader, and advocate whose work centers on healing, empowerment, and transformative care within underserved communities. With a strong foundation in mental health and human services, Dr. DeBlanc has committed her career to addressing the complex needs of individuals and families impacted by trauma, systemic barriers, and social inequities. Dr. DeBlanc’s work is rooted in a trauma-informed and culturally responsive framework. She has provided direct clinical services, supervised emerging professionals, and contributed to the development of innovative programs designed to support healing and resilience. Her leadership has been instrumental in shaping services that prioritize dignity, accessibility, and long-term wellness for individuals across the lifespan.
Dr. DeBlanc earned her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology with a specialization in Health and Human Development from Walden University, building upon her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from California University of Pennsylvania. Dr. DeBlanc also holds the title of Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) as well as founder and CEO of The Emotional Exchange Counseling and Consulting Services LLC, a private practice that provides trauma-focused psychotherapy, clinical supervision, and strategic consulting. Through this work, she partners with organizations to design sustainable mental health programs, secure grant funding, and build workforce capacity, while also providing direct therapeutic services to individuals navigating trauma, burnout, and life transitions.
Dr. DeBlanc’s contributions extend beyond clinical practice into research and innovation. She is a published scholar whose work explores the intersectionality of race, gender, and mental health among crossover youth, as well as the role of racial identity and self-concept among Black social workers in professional spaces. Her research underscores her commitment to culturally responsive care and systemic advocacy. Dr. DeBlanc’s professional philosophy is grounded in the belief that healing must be both individualized and systemic. She is deeply committed to breaking down barriers to care, addressing disparities in mental health access, and equipping both clients and professionals with the tools needed for long-term success and self-actualization. Her leadership is characterized by innovation, integrity, and a steadfast dedication to empowering others.
