Tamia Mitchell serves as the Senior Managing Director of Systems Improvement and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) at A Second Chance, Inc. (ASCI), where she leads enterprise-wide initiatives to strengthen organizational performance, quality assurance, compliance, and continuous improvement. As a member of the executive leadership team, she is committed to advancing operational excellence through strategic planning, systems innovation, and data-informed decision-making that supports the organization’s mission of strengthening and preserving families.
Since joining ASCI in 2014 as the Executive Assistant to the Executive Vice President of Child and Family Services, Tamia has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a commitment to organizational excellence, advancing through a series of executive leadership roles that include Senior Executive Assistant to the Senior Executive Vice President, Chief of Staff to the Chief Operating Officer, Managing Director of Systems Improvement and CQI, and now Senior Managing Director of Systems Improvement and CQI. Her professional journey reflects her ability to lead organizational change, build effective systems, and support executive leadership in achieving strategic goals.
With more than 25 years of executive leadership and administrative experience, Tamia provides strategic oversight of ASCI’s Systems Improvement, Continuous Quality Improvement, and File Compliance teams. She leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives, oversees file compliance processes, and helps ensure the organization’s continued conformance with CARF accreditation standards. Her expertise spans organizational systems improvement, strategic planning, project management, executive operations, board governance, quality assurance, compliance, and performance management.
In addition to her work at ASCI, Tamia served for several years as the Administrative Assistant for the African American Strategic Partnership (AASP), a collaborative initiative established to address racial disparities and improve outcomes for African American children and families involved in child welfare and related human services systems. Through partnerships with community organizations, public agencies, and civic leaders, AASP works to advance equitable policies, strengthen community capacity, and create systemic change that benefits underserved communities.
A collaborative and results-oriented leader, Tamia is passionate about developing sustainable systems that improve organizational effectiveness while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. She believes that strong leadership, strategic collaboration, and operational excellence are essential to delivering high-quality services and achieving meaningful outcomes for children, families, and communities.
Tamia’s leadership and service have been recognized through numerous professional achievements, including being named A Second Chance, Inc. Employee of the Year and receiving the 2022 New Pittsburgh Courier Women of Excellence Award. She is a graduate of Bradford School of Business in Business Administration and completed the Sankofa Institute for African American Executive Leadership in 2025, further strengthening her executive leadership and organizational development expertise. She is also a graduate of the A Second Chance, Inc. Supervisory Academy, where she was recognized as Most Professional and Best Branding.
