A Second Chance, Inc. (ASCI) is a non-profit corporation established in 1994. Its mission is to provide a safe, secure, and nurturing environment to children who are being cared for by their relatives or a close family friend - formally called "kinship care". ASCI became a subcontracting agency of Allegheny County Children and Youth Services (now called Allegheny County Children, Youth and Families [CYF]) in July, 1994.

   Misty Patterson is currently the Director II of Family Services and Transportation, overseeing the Transportation Department. Mrs. Patterson obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership. Mrs. Patterson also attended and graduated from both the Family Development for front line staff and Family Development for Leaders, which she learned to enhance and embrace the techniques of utilizing a strength based approach

   Misty Patterson has over 15 years of experience in the human service field with a strong passion for servicing teenagers and began her career at the agency in August of 2000. Mrs. Patterson's motto is to come to work to work, be happy, respect people, share and give as much as you can in one day
